Mehran Motamedi: Qualifier Passed and Bridgestone Job Offer Accepted 

Mehran Motamedi from CenTiRe project, "Multiscale Modeling of Tire-Road Contact and Adhesion, " has passed his qualifier on Feb. 25th and has accepted a job offer with Bridgestone, as an Engineer III. Congradulations on this accomplishment.

CenTiRe Presention to Prospective Students  

Nicole Swanson from CenTiRe project, "Surface Engineering Approach for Enhanced Filler Dispersion and Hysteresis Reduction in Rubber Compounds," was 1 of 8 oral presentations at Department of Polymer Science. She presented to prospective students interested in joining the department.

PHD Cumulative Exam Passed  

Nicole Swanson passed her final cumulative exam. It is a requirement for each Ph.D student to pass a total of 6 cumulative exams in the Department of Polymer Science at the University of Akron. 

Qualifier Passed 

Prasad Raut, from the CenTiRe project, "Surface Engineering Approach for Enhanced Filler Dispersion and Hysteresis Reduction in Rubber Compounds," passed the Ph.D qualifying exam administered by the Department of Ploymer Engineering in June 2013.

Paper Presented at SAE

Karan Kanse presented his paper, "Performance Measurement of Vehicle Antilock Braking Systems (ABS)" at the SAE 2015 World Congress on April 21st.

Hankook Job Accepted

Yaswanth Siramdasu has accepted the Vehicle Dynamics Engineer Job position at Hankook Tire and will start in June of 2015. Congradulations!

Paper Accepted

Qian Li and Dr. Romesh Batra had a paper, "Material Model for Large Deformations of Fiber-reinforced Rubberlike Materials with Different Response in Tension and Compression" accept in Tire Science and Technology. 

Product Developed 

The product, developed by Professor Josh Wong, Co-PI of CenTire, became the basis for a company called Akron Ascent Innovations (AAI), co-founded by Barry Rosenbaum, University of Akron Research Foundation Senior Fellow and AAI president.
AAI has now been awarded a $736,000 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II grant from the NSF to commercialize and scale up production of its reusable, easily removable adhesive.
