CenTiRe held their bi-annual Industry Advisory Board (IAB) meeting June 1~2 at the Inn at Virginia Tech. This is an important meeting, as our industry members decide on funding of projects and begin the process of developing the next Request for Proposals to determine future project work.
Graduate students presented an update on their current projects to the industry members, and further explained their work during a poster session. All did an excellent job. Faculty members presented new project proposals for consideration for funding. The industry members provided feedback on these project updates and new proposals in an interactive session with the faculty and students. The members then held a session to determine future funding of projects. They voted to continue all projects that were scheduled for additional time, and then decided to fund seven new projects.
This meeting introduced a new feature, as speakers from outside organizations made technical presentations to the group. Dr. Curtis Marcott of LightLightSolutions, LLC gave a presentation on the technology behind the AFM-IR nanoscale material testing machine developed by Anasys Instruments, our newest member. Brian Schleppi of the Road Profile Users Group, also of the Ohio DOT, was our after dinner speaker, giving us a very informative presentation on tire/road interaction from the highway and pavement perspective.
We appreciate the time and effort made by our industry members, faculty, and students in making this a very successful meeting.
