Dr. Judit Puskas, a UA professor and researcher recieves $800,000 to increase production on a new halogen-free material that is made from renewable resources. This work arose from the CenTiRe project Green(er) Tire Technology. The second award, close to $750,000 will fight breast cancer with a new drug Dr. Puskas designed. The drug will be inserted in the rubber polymer of the prosthetic breast and will be absorbed into the body. This type of treatment allows for a specific area of the body to be affected.
